OVERVIEW: Bloomfield Hills Schools owns Bowers School Farm as an outdoor learning site to support student learning and community outreach. Bowers School Farm was purchased in the mid-1960s by Bloomfield Hills Schools to be used as a land laboratory. It is housed on 90 acres within Bloomfield Hills. The farm is open daily and year-round outside of major holidays for educational and community engagement.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: We are seeking a creative and visionary culinarian to oversee all aspects of our farm kitchen operations. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creating seasonal, fast-casual options for our loyal customers and have the kitchen experience to produce those recipes in a cost-effective way. This position will be responsible for creating shelf-stable and ready-to-eat foods at our farm store and farm concession stand.
This position should be comfortable supporting and empowering staff to engage in hands-on activities that connect food from the garden to the classroom. The ideal person for the job will have the desire to create and manage a unique enterprise and to play a significant role in the development of community outreach activities at the Farm. We are looking for someone who is talented, self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and whose servant leadership attitude drives value for our customers.
POSITION STATUS: Full-Time, hourly; hours vary depending on the season
